Each day of the 2021 Roundtable is committed to exploring the question of paradox with different focus, purpose and energy.

Keynote Speakers

Three provocative keynotes set the scene each day, taking on the question of The Partnership Paradox in their own unique way

Thank you for joining us for the
2021 National SAP Roundtable.

While this year’s Roundtable is online, we acknowledge that the campuses of Western Sydney University are located on the unceded lands of the Darug, Eora, Dharawal (also referred to as Tharawal) and Wiradjuri peoples. We also recognise their care for people, lands, skies and waterways, and we recognise that their custodianship is an opportunity for our collective learning.

The Partnership Paradox

We’ve been working really hard to create a Roundtable that not only continues the tradition of celebrating partnership but that also looks at our partnership practices through a more critical lens.

So for the first time at a Roundtable, we have a theme: The Partnership Paradox.

What is the SAP Roundtable?

Shepherded by A/Prof Kelly Matthews at The University of Queensland, the National Students as Partners Roundtable is an annual event that brings members of the Students as Partners Network together to:

  • SHARE Students as Partners practices, ideas and experiences;

  • DISCOVER new ways of considering Students as Partners in higher education;

  • NETWORK with a diversity of Students as Partners practitioners; and

  • HARNESS the creativity of staff and students to address teaching and learning challenges.

Previous hosts:

  • Deakin University (2020)

  • The University of New South Wales (2019)

  • The University of Queensland (20152016 and 2018)

  • The University of Adelaide (2017)

The 2021 Roundtable is supported by the SAP Network and the 21C Project at Western Sydney University.

The Online Experience.

Following the 2020 Deakin Roundtable experience, these three days will be online using MS Teams and Zoom. We know you’re all fatigued by being online – staff and students. We know that some of you will be in different time zones, and that study, work, family and leisure time is all blurring into one. We get it. We feel similarly. We will aim to be mindful of what is happening in the world and your levels of energy. If you haven’t used MS Teams before, don’t worry. We’ll provide guidelines to help you navigate your way to it.

Updates.

Every so often, we will release a video updating you on the Roundtable’s progress so you can follow our journey. Follow the Roundtable hashtag #SAPRtable21.

We’re excited!

We are thrilled (and slightly nervous to be honest) to be hosting this year’s National Students as Partners Roundtable. We want to thank Kelly Mathews for trusting us with it. We also want to acknowledge Western Sydney University, and in particular, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Simon Barrie for his executive sponsorship of the 21C Project – the institutional project that has brought us together to make this Roundtable happen.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to the 2021 Roundtable!
